New Outlook on Local Job Hunt
Dear Mrs. C. J. Liu,
I read your article on "7 Steps to Change Your Job Search Luck" and I was amazed how much of it fits with my job search situation.
I am an MSc (in Hydraulics), Executive MBA (from UW - Seattle and the Academy of Economic Studies - Bucharest) and a PhD candidate in Management (working on my dissertation) with 31 years of work experience. Due to the fact that I was considered over-qualified, nobody in the last nine month was willing to hire me. I have tried to be my self employer, in management consulting, but the Romanian market in this field is immature. Unfortunately, over this situation has overlapped a strange illness (tinnitus = continuous noise heard in my left ear), so I am unable to sing or dance, as you recommend in the article. But I still "fight" with life.
I felt better reading your ideas. I shall try to follow your recommendations because I feel that are good.
Hopefully, I shall not lose my hope!
All the best,
Dan
Dan,
Thanks for your email. I’m sorry to hear of all the hardship that you have had. It takes a lot of courage to make the kind of changes you have made. I’m glad my article made you feel better and hopeful. The key in your situation is to go beyond hope and to have faith.
What I find with most people who have undergone rough patches like yours is that their attention is focused on the dwelling in the past and being attached to “what was” versus “what is.” These clients create suffering due to holding onto their story and analyzing everything that got them to wherever they find themselves. I’m not sure if this is your case or not, but it’s often the case at some level for any person going through difficulty. The good news is once you accept your situation you suffer less. It doesn’t make the problems go away, but at least you can relate to it differently.
Wishing you the best of luck,
C.J.
